Acres of Wildlife has something to offer children and adults of all ages thus giving everyone in the family a great camping experience. The highlight of our trip this year for my grandaughter (age 2) was the firetruck rides. Our whole family enjoyed swimming, boating, hiking and attending the campground functions. Life slowed down and we took the time to enjoy it. Our favorite week is Pirate Week and we will be returning for this next year. Our eye patches, pirate clothing and flags are packed already. Our pirates range from 2 to 67,occupy 3 campsites and make up 4 generations. 2012 will be our 5th year and we are pleased to say that we have never had a bad experience at this campground. Our fellow campers have been great and the campground maintainence people are right at your site if you have a problem and correct it immediately. Thanks for our camping experience.

Fun for all ages

The best part about this campground is PLAYING.There is usually a version of any activity for the kids, then another version for any adults that want to play. Lots of water play. Delicious clean spring water.Parents accompany small children so good manners are observed. Adults run the activities, not underpaid teens, so you can expect fairness in any competitive activity. Respect and good manners are expected, and the kids really shine.Sign up sheets are used for any activities that have a limited number of openings so no one is disappointed. Everyone is on vacation, so good moods are prevalent. Only other place I have encountered so many people in good moods (including staff) is at Disney World. The all campground water fight 2-3 x week (called "the Wet Hayride") is a nice illustration of how even the quietest older folks will get involved in some silly fun. Some draw chalk targets on the side of a truck, or sit with newspapers near the road as the wagon rolls by pretending they don't know what's going on...we all laugh all week long. The beach on the lake is refreshing and clean. Parents hang out in small clusters on floating lounges chatting about raising kids and everything else, while watching over splashing, diving, and cannon-balling kids on the beach and docks. Amazing fun. Try out a long weekend in the summer and you'll find your self checking back for openings all summer long.Folks tend to sign up for the same week each year, so you can end up building a sort of "summer vacation family". Not much drinking/partying at this place, although lots of us enjoy a drink at the pub or at our site while visiting. So many kids around that it is better that there isn't so much of that going on. Prices at store are very very reasonable for forgotten items, clothespins or bolts. Restaurant is good food, modest prices. Pub is priced same as local bar. Muffins, pies, fresh bread same as grocery store. Ice cream novelties & pints are high, falling into the "luxury" level$$

I would like to say that this campground is awesome for kids and adults most of the activities are for both kid and adults. There is a list of events with all the times at the office. So much fo the kids, as soon as we check in the kids are gone till dinner. Also there is a fresh bakery ( you should load the shelves with fresh bread on check outNm) everyone that we go with says the same thing that it would be awesome to bring a few loafs of bread home. This is gonna be our 3rd year renting A6 for bluberry week. That is a good week a lot of friends and family come up for that week. There is a lot to like at Acers Of Wildlife! You have Mr Magic, the mud bog you have the food fight and the Bon fire/ dance and so much more to list. Keep up the good work and my family and I will see you next year! Aloha

this was our I think 10th year going as a group of 15 or more for the week. It is really incredible that a group of people from ages 3-60 (when we started coming to now)10-55 can have such a blast but at Acres there is so much that ALL can do and enjoy together or even apart then come back to the camp sites and share your stories of the day around a nice campfire there is so much to do you could run yourselves ragged daily or as I prefer sit at the site and just relax most of the time until Bingo or Tie-dye or Happy Hour or the Magic show then there is the Sparks Arks guy that comes in a MUST see! Doen't matter rain or shine we will return year after year, time after time!!!

Lots to do for kids and families! Many conveniences!

We've stayed here for a week each summer, for at least five years. Acres of Wildlife has a lovely lake with a sandy beach that has shade areas, an ice cream stand, swim docks, kayaks, paddle boats, etc. You can rent the boats quickly and inexpensively including lifejackets. The kids love to swim out to the anchored swim docks and jump off. There are fun activities like the wet hayride, candy-bar bingo, magic show, a dance with a DJ, karaoke night, tye-dying and other crafts, etc. If you don't want to cook at your campsite some days, you can buy meals at the on-site diner, or participate in the lobster night, make-your-own taco's etc. They do a good job maintaining reasonable cleanliness of the showers and bathrooms. Every night after midnight, all of the bathrooms and showers are cleaned. Unless you choose a "wilderness" site, you'll have an electrical outlet box and a water spigot at your site. We always bring a hose and nozzle for rinsing dishes, washing hands, etc. There are several really top notch staff members who run activities and are on hand at the office. A of W has all the fun of camping, but with a lot of conveniences like dumpsters, firewood and ice for sale on site, the store, etc. The one thing that they need to improve and take more seriously is enforcing the quiet time at night. As with most family campgrounds, sites are close together and a hundred people can be kept awake all night by one obnoxious crew. If they are going to advertise a family atmosphere and a quiet time of 10:00 or 10:30 PM, they really should make hourly rounds to be aware if people are doing loud drunk partying between 10:00PM and 2:00 AM. If you call security, they come, but they won't know if you don't call, even if it goes on for hours. When security comes, they politely ask them to quiet down, but we haven't found that helps much. A of W should try harder get this under control when it happens, as it can put a damper on an otherwise wonderful campground.

This was our 2nd yr at AOW.We liked the activities but not too happy with the "lake". Dirty water. Security: none. We had noisy neighbors and we had to do the security w/them and tell them that quiet hrs began at 10:30 PM. This was 11:30 PM when we had to talk to them. Quiet hrs are posted every where but no one to enforce it. Someone should be driving around to enforce it. Overall we had a great time except for our two concerns: murky swimming water & lack of security.

My family are not strangers to Acres of Wildlife and overall we are pleased with the experience however one unsatisfactory experience continues year after year and that is in the game room. Many of the machines do not work properly and I have lost several dollars in them. Losing the money is not as disappointing as just not being able to play the game. Not sure why this continues to be a problem but I wish someone would finally resolve it. Either remove the machines or make certain that they work properly.

This is my family's fifth year at A 0f W; and again it was a wonderful vacation. Bathrooms are always clean, improvements to the beach/playground area are positive and the food in the Chub Pub has improved.

Great time!

This was our first visit and had heard from many people how great the campground is. There are lots of activities for all ages (but not TOO many, so plenty of free time) and most are family-focused. My kids had fun trying lots of new things and winning lots of ribbons. The week was spent enjoying the campground and making memories that they will remember (scavenger hunt as a family, swimming in the pond, picking blackberries, riding bikes, riding a fire truck around the campground, playing "Minute to Win It" as a family team, make-your-own sundaes). The activities were inexpensive (or free) and they have a restaurant (fair prices/good food) and pretty well-stocked store on-site. The staff was very friendly and other campers were nice. Many people return here year after year. The place seemed very safe for children and we let our older son ride around on his bike without a grown-up (he's 9). There are three playgrounds and you can boat/fish/swim in the pond on site. The negatives: there is nothing to do outside the campground for about 45 minutes-1 hour or so. The sites are average size and quality of the sites varies a great deal. We liked our site because it was pretty private, but some of the tent sites are crowded and have little privacy. It isn't a fancy looking campground, but it is clean and everything you need for fun is on site. We have stayed at "fancier" campgrounds and the atmosphere wasn't as relaxed and children weren't as welcomed. Also, the "fancier" campgrounds may have been better groomed & had landscaping everywhere, but they were also more $$ and were like staying in a parking lot. This is camping and my kids, my hubby and I had fun! We'll be going back--lots of great memories and a place where kids can be kids and families can spend real time together!
