My wife and I started tent camping this year and have checked many camp grounds is the Harrisburg and Maryland area.when we visited Buttonwood,we where given a tour by the very friendly owner. We were so impressed by the friendly staff we made a reservation. The only bad thing we can say is if you don't try this camp ground shame on you.we are now considering buying a camper and a permanent site. Until then we will bring are tent and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere and the great smallmouth fishing and the new and many friends we made in such a short visit

Camped there 8/7- 8/09/15. The campground is geared to families that like water activities. It was clean and well maintained. We had a group going and one of our group had to cancel because the women just found out that she has to have major heart surgery in a week. They refused to give a refund but after complaining they agreed to a rain check that had to be used buy 11/1/15, which she probably can not use this year. When we checked in we complained again and they agreed to a rain check that they could use through next year. When we looked at their site it was rented all weekend which means they did not loose any money. Also one of our group this year had a rain check from last year and when she checked in they told her she had to pay $7.50 ($3.50 per night) because they raised rates this year. Also there are railroad tracks and a race track close by that are very load. We will not go back.

We have enjoyed our stay at Buttonwood Campground every time we've visited. The people are friendly and very helpful. So much to see and do. Best of all the most relaxing and enjoyable time we have planned for the end of summer vacation. This has become a yearly trip for us.

Pretty Good with some room for improvement

Our first trip was during the July "Wet N Wild Weekend II" weekend, 2015. The main reason for us trying the camp was to give the kids a chance to do float trips down the river. However, the river was unusually high during our stay and all tubing and kayaking trips were cancelled. This was a big disappointment to us and although it was out of the camps control it would have been nice if they offered us some concession for not having that opportunity available. Luckily the camp had enough activities to keep the kids reasonably entertained for the weekend. The wet hayride and laser tag were fun, but there were long lines for both especially the hay ride that took three trips (45 minutes per trip) to get all those in line a ride. The folks at the back of the line had to wait 1.5 hour in the hot sun before getting a chance to get on the ride. We would suggest that the camp offer tickets with numbers (for both the hay ride and the laser tag) and a suggested time to arrive, so that campers could avoid waiting in long lines. We would also suggest that the fire department tone it down on the fire-hose treatment during the hay ride. The amount of water coming down was overwhelming for a long period of time and some of the smaller children had to leave the ride crying after being sprayed with the cold water from the fire hose. The staff was polite and friendly. The camp is clean and if you forget something, they probably have it in their store at a price that is not too unreasonable. Our kids particularly enjoyed the pillow bounce. We would like to try the camp again sometime, but will check the river level first to make sure the kayaking and tubing float trips are available.
