The staff is excellent and so knowledgeable of the Washington DC area. They have grear tours and transportation if you don't have a car and also so much information not only on the city but eating places, the metro and any questions you have. They have a 4PM meeting and explain and answer questions. Barb has beem at Cherry Hill and is great and full of information in the area. Thanks again to the staff for the great time we had in your park.

Although some of the sites are a bit close together, my overall experience here was Great! Service was great and the facilities (including bathrooms & Showers) were very nice, kept clean and more than sufficient. So close to the Metro, University of Maryland and DC! Thanks for a great time!

Stzomah goes to Washington

This place is really nice. It has brick paver walks, asphalt roads, and the nicest rest room and shower that I have ever seen in a CG! I have been camping for 40+ years! Really impressive! Keep in mind, It is urban camping, not rustic. There is a lot of highway noise. That is the only drawback but you are so close to DC, you have to expect that. The location is about 6 miles from New Carrotton station on the Orange line Metro. Easy to the Smithsonian and center city. Parking is free on the weekends at the Metro. We did not use the shuttle. We highly recommend a Capital Segway tour. A lot of fun!

Initial Cherry Hill visit
0 % of users found this review helpful
We just returned from our first camping experience at Cherry Hill Campground. In a nutshell, it was the best campground we have visited to date! The staff was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. They went out of their way to assure our experience was a positive one and they were successful. The campsite was ideal, the bathhouse first rate and the rest of the facilities were very professionally maintained. The theme of the campground is " A Monumental Experience" and this is what this campground is about. It is a base camp for exploring the sights in D.C. and it is a very convenient way to do so. A staff member suggested to us that we try the night bus tour so we gave it a try. ($35. per person) The bus driver/tour guide( Big Al) knew DC both historically and geographically. In addition to his knowledge, he was quite entertaining. I would highly recommend the tour. The staff also provided in depth information about navigating the Metro. They gave enough information for us to use the metro to navigate the city, going from point of interest to point of interest without a problem. Overall, if you want to be a D.C. tourist, I highly recommend staying at Cherry Hill Campground. You won't be disappointed.
