Description

A world of water fun awaits at Eagle Cliff Campground & Lodging in Lanesboro, Minnesota, thanks to the inviting Root River that loops around the park. You'll find easy access to the river and all the equipment you need to rent for canoeing, kayaking and tubing. Soaring bluffs and wildlife such as deer, red-tailed hawks, river otters and a great many fish await those on a river ride. Bicyclists, skaters and hikers can head to the Root River State Trail, consisting of miles of scenic paved routes through picturesque towns in the southeastern part of the state.

You can book your space at Eagle Cliff using the easy online reservation system. Pitch a tent on the banks of the river or check out the many RV sites with hookups. Fire rings and picnic tables are available at each spot. If you'd like to stay at the charming five-room lodge, book early--it's very popular. The large, non-smoking rooms can accommodate up to four people and feature a private entrance, full bath, two queen beds, television, air conditioning and deck. Kettle grills and a central fire pit are provided, perfect for group gatherings. Groups of any size are always welcome at Eagle Cliff. And everyone gets a fifth night free!

Entertaining ways to spend the day and nights are plentiful. Special events at the park include Christmas in July, Halloween in August, fireworks and a bike and golf cart parade for the Fourth of July, karaoke parties, and a tube race on the Root River. Plays at the Commonweal Theatre in Lanesboro are performed in an intimate setting with unique design elements. The building is a converted cheese factory with barn doors used as bathroom stalls. Explore Minnesota's longest cave and view a restored village at the Forestville/Mystery Cave State Park. Visit the farms and shops of the Amish communities on one of the numerous tours. Trout is the king fish here, and you can learn some important skills for catching some at the National Trout Learning Center in Preston. Plan now to visit Eagle Cliff Campground and get to know this intriguing part of the Midwest.

This has become a twice to three weekends a year campground for us, even with the little over two hour drive to get there. Fabulous setting, great owners.

Good friends recommended Eagle Cliff Campground to us over 6 months ago for our planned camping/biking trip this last fall. We are very grateful they did! The location is beautiful; the campground well maintained and the owners were very helpful. We had worried when we heard about the flooding the week before our scheduled arrival. When I called the office prior to leaving home, the young woman answered all my questions and explained all of the hard work they had already put in to restoring the grounds to good condition. We crossed our fingers and traveled over 150 miles to find just what she had reported. Thanks to their efforts our 5 days stay was just what we wanted. I can wish there was a slightly easier access to the bike trails. Luckily there were no children in our group so the very brief bike ride on the main road was not a problem. This was the only thing we would wish to have changed. We already plan to come back next year.

Eagle Cliff Campground is one of our favorite camping spots; the scenery is magnificent! We enjoy fall camping best when the leaves are turning. This place offers everything we're looking for: kayaking, biking, walking, and large campsites. The hosts are awesome and the campground is very well maintained. We'll be back!
