Description

A world of water fun awaits at Eagle Cliff Campground & Lodging in Lanesboro, Minnesota, thanks to the inviting Root River that loops around the park. You'll find easy access to the river and all the equipment you need to rent for canoeing, kayaking and tubing. Soaring bluffs and wildlife such as deer, red-tailed hawks, river otters and a great many fish await those on a river ride. Bicyclists, skaters and hikers can head to the Root River State Trail, consisting of miles of scenic paved routes through picturesque towns in the southeastern part of the state.

You can book your space at Eagle Cliff using the easy online reservation system. Pitch a tent on the banks of the river or check out the many RV sites with hookups. Fire rings and picnic tables are available at each spot. If you'd like to stay at the charming five-room lodge, book early--it's very popular. The large, non-smoking rooms can accommodate up to four people and feature a private entrance, full bath, two queen beds, television, air conditioning and deck. Kettle grills and a central fire pit are provided, perfect for group gatherings. Groups of any size are always welcome at Eagle Cliff. And everyone gets a fifth night free!

Entertaining ways to spend the day and nights are plentiful. Special events at the park include Christmas in July, Halloween in August, fireworks and a bike and golf cart parade for the Fourth of July, karaoke parties, and a tube race on the Root River. Plays at the Commonweal Theatre in Lanesboro are performed in an intimate setting with unique design elements. The building is a converted cheese factory with barn doors used as bathroom stalls. Explore Minnesota's longest cave and view a restored village at the Forestville/Mystery Cave State Park. Visit the farms and shops of the Amish communities on one of the numerous tours. Trout is the king fish here, and you can learn some important skills for catching some at the National Trout Learning Center in Preston. Plan now to visit Eagle Cliff Campground and get to know this intriguing part of the Midwest.

I can't say enough about this campground and it's staff. After initially finding this gem, I spent 3 full weekends here this summer. They worked with me when plans fell through and moved us around to accommodate additions to our group. The sites are very well maintained and the spacing is generous. We can't wait for next summer, this place is a kayaking/biking mecca. It truly meets all of our needs...truly the best in bluff country!

Fall RV Trip

Management very uncaring and totally oblivious to their customers well being. Park has arrows pointing towards trail but no warnings about loose gravel upon return (bicycling). My wife fell on her bicycle upon returning to rv property and ultimately it was determined she broke her leg. We asked to leave 1 day early and be reimbursed and they refused a 1 day refund. That customer service is absolutely horrible considering what happened on their property.

Campground easy to get locate. Our camping area was very neat and spacious. We and 3 other families enjoyed our time camping. We had a great day to canoe down the Root River. Some of our group did the 16 mile trip which took about 5.5 hrs and weren't completely prepared for the length and endurance needed. Yes, you can take your time but 4+ hours can be grueling for some. The 8 mile trip was perfect for me. Scenery was great. We were all glad we did it. Biking was good on the trails too. We love stopping in Whalen at the Pie shop for a break and a good treat. Campfires were great even standing under the awning while it was raining. Boys enjoyed fishing in the river. Some of the dads and boys did some youth deer hunting in one of the nearby state lands. Didn't see anything but they tried. We didn't have a chance to check anything else out this camping trip.
