Description

A world of water fun awaits at Eagle Cliff Campground & Lodging in Lanesboro, Minnesota, thanks to the inviting Root River that loops around the park. You'll find easy access to the river and all the equipment you need to rent for canoeing, kayaking and tubing. Soaring bluffs and wildlife such as deer, red-tailed hawks, river otters and a great many fish await those on a river ride. Bicyclists, skaters and hikers can head to the Root River State Trail, consisting of miles of scenic paved routes through picturesque towns in the southeastern part of the state.

You can book your space at Eagle Cliff using the easy online reservation system. Pitch a tent on the banks of the river or check out the many RV sites with hookups. Fire rings and picnic tables are available at each spot. If you'd like to stay at the charming five-room lodge, book early--it's very popular. The large, non-smoking rooms can accommodate up to four people and feature a private entrance, full bath, two queen beds, television, air conditioning and deck. Kettle grills and a central fire pit are provided, perfect for group gatherings. Groups of any size are always welcome at Eagle Cliff. And everyone gets a fifth night free!

Entertaining ways to spend the day and nights are plentiful. Special events at the park include Christmas in July, Halloween in August, fireworks and a bike and golf cart parade for the Fourth of July, karaoke parties, and a tube race on the Root River. Plays at the Commonweal Theatre in Lanesboro are performed in an intimate setting with unique design elements. The building is a converted cheese factory with barn doors used as bathroom stalls. Explore Minnesota's longest cave and view a restored village at the Forestville/Mystery Cave State Park. Visit the farms and shops of the Amish communities on one of the numerous tours. Trout is the king fish here, and you can learn some important skills for catching some at the National Trout Learning Center in Preston. Plan now to visit Eagle Cliff Campground and get to know this intriguing part of the Midwest.

No Deadbolt!
0 % of users found this review helpful
We stayed in the lodge. It's a big room and very clean, but the deadbolt did not work and the staff we talked to about it didn't seem to care. She said, "Nobody locks their doors around here". Also, the heat was wacky. Either too hot or too cold, and very humid in there. I probably wouldn't stay there again. We stayed in the off season and if they can't take the time to make us comfortable when they have more time, they probably won't have time to make us comfortable during their busy season. Beautiful place though. They're lucky to have such a beautiful setting.

Beautiful Campground
0 % of users found this review helpful
We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful campground near Lanesboro, MN. The campsite was roomy with a nice picnic table and fire ring (provided). The camp restrooms and showers were clean, but do cost money, 25 cents for 4 minutes. Access to the bike trail was simple, but you will need to ride on Hwy 16 for a short distance to Whalen. The camp store was stocked with basics (end of season), and though I didn't use it they had plenty of firewood available. Next time we come out we are going to take advantage of the activities (tubing, canoeing and kayaking). Overall it was a very relaxing visit.

We have been coming here for over 20 years. The new owners have done a great job of improving the grounds and do a great job managing the place.

Our first time camping here. Great spot close to bike trails, river canoeing, and town. Would definitely come again.
