pecan park is a nice place to relax and is away from the city making it very quiet. if I come back to san marcos I will stay at this camp again. it was easy to get around and very secure for children. customer service staff helpful and friendly all of the time and explained everything very well. grounds maintenance staff very nice and helpful. great that so many squirrels live in the park area. suggestions for improvement: 1. clean up the part of the san marcos river that is associated with pecan park. river side is dirty and unsafe. cans and trash all over the place. no real place to get into the water. wood and concrete debris from former storms still lying around. since this is a big attraction I consider the clean up effort a must. 2. bathroom/shower buildings were not clean. only a short time in the early morning, then the rest of the time not clean. 3. parking areas made of large gravel which is tough on tires and tough to walk on. my parking area was not level and my RV did not have leveling devices. 4. concrete pads next to parking slots were cracked. our picknic table was in terrible condition; very old, warped, splintered wood. 5. tree maintenance could be better. seemed that too many large trees were cut and removed instead of being trimmed. grass mowing operators drove too fast stirring up lots of dust and dirt. need to slow down and watch for foreign objects that fly out from the mowers.

Worth Coming Back To!

We first stayed at Pecan Park for a week in March. Wow! We were so impressed that we promptly booked another week in May (which we recently completed)and two weeks beginning at the end of June! And I have little doubt that we will be reserving a space for August as well! We find the facilities to be meticulously maintained and plentiful. There is no doubt as to why they are consistently rated so high by Woodall's and Good Sam. In fact that was the thing that prompted me to book our original week in March there. In March we found the indoor pool and hot tub to be a welcome amenity as the weather was still too cool to enjoy the river. In May we were able to venture into the crystal clear, cool water of the river. And next month I am sure we will take full advantage of the river! The restrooms and shower facilities are plentiful and clean. And I certainly appreciated the two laundry areas in the park. In addition the park is remote enough to provide a sense of solitude and yet in reality you are so close to so many great attractions and activities. There are many full timers and semi full timers living there and we found them all to be delightful and extremely friendly and helpful! We promptly befriended many of them and look forward to seeing them again on each return visit! I think you would be hard pressed to beat what Pecan Park has to offer! And I can see us making it a very regular destination!

The people are very friendly and the resort is clean and quite. There is access to the river from the park to go tubing and have fun. They are pet friendly as well. We were there for Memorial Weekend and they sold BBQ dinner on Saturday and Breakfast Tacos on Sunday. We will definitely go back.
