My first experience at camping or as I call it 'tenting' was a lot better than I had expected. The facilities a Rose Point made that more enjoyable than I thought it would be. Unfortunately, we visited Rose Point over Memorial Weekend....& if you remember it was on the cool side so being able to enjoy the pool was a little out of the question. Rose Point was well maintained, clean, & run efficiently. I liked the fact that they had daily well rounded (for all ages) activities planned & that they worked to see that all ages where planned for. I was impressed that they had a band on sunday night for entertainment. All in all, I was pleasantly surprised. And will return with friends again!

Even though it was cold, pool was heated and there were plenty of activities. Fishing at the bridge was not good, but if you could take the hike over the "hill", fishing was much better. All in all, a nice place.

Enjoyable Rosepoint Park

Rosepoint is a family friendly campground tucked away in New Castle PA. Wonderful, peaceful location close to McConnells Mills. Your hosts, The Yeager's are hospitable people will do everything possible to make your stay enjoyable. All varieties of rentals are available at reasonable rates. The permanent residents are lovely people who open you and your family with open arms. Weekend activities are aplenty for the kids to keep them entertained as you relax at your campsite. Perfect place for the kids to ride their bikes. Kids are allowed to be on their bikes after dark as long as they have a bike lite on the front. Kids must be at their own campsite by 11:00pm. We are long time campers and have fallen in love with Rosepoint. It is the only campground we stay at in the Pittsburgh area. Some things that you need to be aware of: there is not a local grocery store to purchase items. (There is a camp store on site but only carry the basic camping food items. They include snacks, beverages, brewed coffee, milk, bread, hot dogs, bacon, small assortment of canned goods and of course stuff for smore's.)The closest grocery store that we found was closer to Moraine State Park and is family owned and is small but still carries plenty of items. There is a McDonalds and a Subway at the truck stop by the onramp of Interstate 79. Further down 422 is a Sheetz, but you must travel a few miles towards the city of New Castle. There is a wonderful ice cream place, Mr. C's, about a 1 mile walk to from camp. Wonderful banana splits and homemade apple dumplings. They also have a minature golf course. A short walk from the camp is the Slippery Rock Creek and is accessable for kayaking, tubing or just for dipping in your feet. There are dirt bike paths through the woods behind the campground and next to the creek. Firewood is $6 per bundle, but we have found that it is cheaper to get a "Gator" load delivered to your campsite to keep your fires blazing.
